Letter: ‘Sanspareil’ was donated to the Museum by John Hick and not himself. Hackworth’s work on ‘Puffing Billy’. ‘It appears to have been overlooked that the defeat of the ‘Sanspareil’ was down to the failure of her cylinders supplied from the same [Robert Stephenson’s] factory’.
