Dr Madame
Please to receive the second and last instalment for this Xmas ; viz a turkey and a few sausages, and also postage stamps to make up for any deficiencies, such as vegetables, a few bones to make some good gravy, and maybe some cream. I am not up to all the cooking requested; thus I do hope the stamps will procure what I have in my ignorance neglected. You will find a servant, I fancy. The turkey will require three hours to boil gently; and perhaps three hours to roast. Hope you and yours will have a happy Xmas & enjoy the viands to your hearts’ content. Perhaps I may say that I have sent these few things this week instead of next, having some idea you may have other engagements for the following weeks.
With kind regards to Mr Y and all your family, especially to the little boy […?]; hoping he will be a good lad; & never give his dear Mamma any uneasiness.
