Anthy Lyon Driving for Chars Laws; for using bad language to Clemmott and threeting to Strike at him for not allowing him to take what Waggons he thought propper - - - - - - {2/6}

August 4th 1831
Thos Anderson Driving for Jams Gibson Left his Horse and got [struck through] and got into the Dandy Cart belonging the Waggons going up before him and fell a Sleep and his Horse stoped until No.9 Ingine came up to him about 1 aclock in the morning it being Hazy and no light with the Waggons belonging the Horse the Ingine Ran up against them and was throwing of the way and stopped the Line upward of 2 Houres. {5/-}

Mr Storey informed me that the Commette thought it propper that I should have A person to assist me in regulating of the leading of coals and for giving greater facility to the Traffic on the Stockton and Darlington Railway; I have had the Man which I thought about as our assistant up at New Shildon, seeing the place where I intend to place him; and he is willing to do all we Request if we agree about his wage, I inquired into his present wages and was Informed that he had 22s per week and House and Fire Coal and Garden all Free and the Wages he requires here is 25s per Week and his Furniture and Family Removed.
