Nov 29th 1844
J Graham Reports that he has inspected the Wire Ropes upon the Durham and Sunderland and Several private Railways where they are used and from the Best information it appears that there is a Saving of from 20 to 50 per Cent by using Wire instead of Hemp Ropes where they Can be applied

April 25th 1845
J Graham Reports That he has examined the Sidings at Middlesbro between the Hirds House & Old Drops and is of opinion that the Whole of the Siding Room is and will be wanted on account of the Increased quantity of Foreign Export & other Coals that are Shipped & used for Manufacturing purposes having to be deposited there
