John Graham would wish to know whether there is any thing in the agreement between the Company and the Contractors, As a scale to know how to pay the Contractors for the use of there Engines when taking to Run with the Coaches

Gentlemen
in obeadence to your orders of last week I have seen Mr Hackworth and told him that he was to make an offer to the Company for his Engines when taking to Hall the Coaches, and for the Empty waggons taking from Darlington to Shildon and for Halling the Shildon Coach
Mr Hackworth complaind of the Short notice and of not having much Idea of it, and wished to have my viewes which I gave to him as follows
1st an Engine when taking to Hall the Shildon Coach to be paid 10d per waggon for every she is Short of 20 when there is not loaden waggons for
