January 18th 1833, Reports made to the Stockton and Darlington Railway Commettee by John Graham

Gentlemen
As it has been the wish and orders of this Company that the Spead of there Engines be kept down which is very desireaable; as it is Injureous both to the Engines and Railway traveling at sutch great speades and daingerous to at Night time __ ____ ___
Yet in defiance of all Fines and threts Charls Jenneson performed A Journey on Monday Night in 4½ Houres and another on Tuesday Night in nearly the same time the Engine has don nothing since; I Consider

sutch A man as him who neither regardes his own Life nor other Peoples nor cares for the Property he is Intrusted with; not fit to be in the Companeys Service; I have ordered him here to Day { to be dismissed }
I have Received A Bill from John Bell amounting to 14/6 for the Railway men at Stockton getting waggons on the way which was occationed by the Inattention of the same person

As the Trade is still dull and the Company having Reduced the Tonage and Hallage to the Coal Owners ______I consider it my duty to point out to the Company where any saving can be made on any part of the Line at present ______ First) it appears to me that on the Middlesbro.
