January 25th 1833 Reports made to the Stockton & Darlington Railway Commettee by John Graham
In Obeadence to the Orders of last week; I have led all the Yarm Coals with One of the Small Engines and it answers very well; I have reduced the Number of Horses from abt 50 to 33 and divided them into 3 Classes so that we have no more than 11 Horses on each Day
I have seen Mathw Stephenson Respecting the Middlesbrow Lead and he thinks 5½d per waggon over Little; he is here to Day and wishes to speak to the Company about it {To apply for offers if MS continues to decline}

I was Ordered to Report to the Company the use of James Clemet upon the Railway the only use he is to is to gather up the Chains and Brakes &c that Losses of the waggons {JG to report again before long}
January 23d
The Chain attached to the Brusselton Engine Rope broke twice with the Loading waggons had it not been for the throw off Switch at the Top of the Bank there would have been A great deal of Damage done; Damage about 3 £; The Chain has been badly made there has been nerly 30 £ Damage Don by it
