Octr 19th 1831 John Dixon Driving for Arrowsmith Refused to go into the siding upon Aycliff level for No 9 Ingine to pass him – {5/-}

Octr 28th 1831 As No7 Ingine Was coming dowen about 3 O Clock in the morning the switch was Rong at the hid of the long siding above Darlington and threw the Ingine and Waggons Into the siding; one of the Waggons got of the way at the crossing and was dragged 100 yds of the way and after he came to the next switch which led of the siding onto the Main Line; Instead of going onto the main line he kept upon the siding and 15 of his Waggons got of the way at the same Switches; and left the Waggons Standing without A Light While he was dowen at the Water and
