May 8th 1835, John Graham Reports to the Commettee as Follows
May 1st Wm Gill Engineman under W Lister for refusing to go to Yarm with a Load of waggons when Ordred, and at the time 42 waggons were Standing at Shildon for the above Place
Gentlemen
Jno Graham having been directed to Lay before you such regulations as may be necessary for securing a reduced Speed of the Coal Trade Engines not to exceed 6 miles per Houre and for obviating any hindrance to the Coach Trains in the Case of such Engines being

overtaking by the Coaches
1st Should the Speed be reduced to 6 miles per Houre 2 Houres will then be occupied in performing the Trip between Darlington & Stockton, and as the Coach Train performes the above Trip in one Houre, in this case the Coal Trade Engines would have to be stoped at Darlington one Houre before the time of the Coach Train Leaving the above place this would be a great hindrance and inconveniance to the Coal Trade
2nd to obviate this as much as possable and to give greater facility to the Coal Trade JG Recomends that all Engines passing Darlington from
