March 8th 1833. Reports made to the Stockton & Darlington Railway Commettee by John Graham

March 6th
As Bedford was bringing his waggons off the Depose at Fighting Cocks, Charltons man was coming up with his Empty waggons and put away his Horse to get before Bedford, Charltons mans first waggon came in contact with Bedfords second waggon and Broke A Wheel
{ See Sedgwicks Book }

A Siding is very much wanted within Mr Surtesses Branch to Deposit both his Loading and Empty waggons; this Siding would be of Great Service to Mr Surtees and to the Company ____
{ Surtees may do this __ and Jno Graham to encourage Surtees }

[Page 174]

First it would be A great advantage to Mr Surtees to have his Empty waggons put into his own siding with his Branch instead of having them to sort out amongst the Empty waggons on the general Deposit at the Branch End _________
____It would be an advantage to the Company as the Loading waggons would then be stoped within the Branch and led by Engines when wanted at Stockton; now they are taking away by there own Horses as soon as they are Loaded whether they are wanted or not; they have some times upwards of 50 Loading waggons upon Stockton Battery where by if A Siding was made within the Branch they might be kept Back untill wanted
