Octr 18th 1833, Reports made to the Stockton & Darlington Railway Commettee by John Graham

We have been very badley suplied with Engine Power all this week on Tuesday we were reduced to 5 Engines On Friday Last 3 of our Engines was Broke Viz the Lord Durham Adelaid & Coronation. The Lord Durham Broke her Axel near the Black Boy Branch end; The Adelaid was throwing over Myers Flat Battery by A Broken Rail she Tumbled the whole of the way to the Bottom of the Battery and Lay with her wheels up; the Engine and 4 waggons was Broke; The Coronation was broke Near Bowesfield Lane at the Junction of the Middlesbro Branch by the Carelessness of the Engine man the Engine and the Middlesbro Loading waggons met at the above place the damage done to bothe Engine and

Thomas Dixon Beggs the Favour of of [struck through] being made Guard of the Coaches at the west End of the Line, he is a A very suitable Person and has had A good deal of Experience with the Brusselton Plains and as no strainger would be fit to trust on that Part of the Line I think he would be A Very Likely Person
