July 27th 1832 Reports made to the Stockton & Darlington Railway Commettee by John Graham
Gentlemen
In obeadeance to the ordres of the Sub Commettee on Wednesday last; I have Inquired particularly into the work of the Teamers at Stockton and as there is only 3 men as Teamers Which is not sufficient at all times to do the work and when more help is set to assist them the Steaths are Blocked up with Empty Waggons not being Regularly taking away from them To avoid this as much as possable it would be advisable to Let the Contract for the Teamers to find Horses
[Page 119]
to remove the Empty waggons from the Shipping place to the Weigh House Siding or to Bowsfield Lane as it would both clear the Steaths and Greatly forward the Engines
We have been doing very little all this week for want of Ships and the Collierys that has had Ships could not get there Coals down so that the Ships have been detained and the Collierys Stoped for want of waggons on account of no Returns being made to me of what Coals were wanted
