January 24th 1834, Reports made to the Stockton & Darlington Railway Commettee by John Graham

As Michal Law was taking an Engine Load of New waggons up from Darlington for South Durham Colliery, one of the Boddem [Bottom] Boards came down near Marleys East Killns and throwed the waggons off the way before an Engine that was desending and Broke 4 waggons Less or More and the Coal Tender Axle, Damage about 30 Shillings who ought to Repair the waggons

The Engine men now pays 8d per Journey for there Engine Bars J Graham thinks it would be much better to make them pay for only for [struck through] what Bars they use it would make them more carefull over them
