From the increased facilitys that is given Since the Dock was opened at Middlesbro and the Assistance and the Assistance [sic] that is given at Shildon to our Enginemen and Firemen, at the Same time taking into Account the Depressed State of Trade and the Reduced price of Provissions; I consider that the above men can bare a little Reduction I have consulted a member of the Commettee on the Subject he beeing of the Same mind I have Reduced them as under Said Reduction takes place on the First of this month ____________

Darlington 3/- 3/6

I have also made a considerable Reduction with the Men upon the Incline plains Said Reduction will ammount to 50/- per Week
